The Ministry of Finance has announced the retail prices for petroleum products for the period of July 30 to August 5. The prices for unsubsidised petrol and diesel have seen an increase of 20 sen per litre compared to the previous week. The official prices are as follows:

• RON95: RM3.82 per litre (unsubsidised)
• RON97: RM4.40 per litre
• Diesel: RM4.62 per litre (unsubsidised)

This week's 20-sen increase follows a smaller rise during the week of July 16-22, which marked the first price hike after six weeks of stable or falling prices. As global crude prices go up, the cost to refine petrol and diesel also increases, which in turn affects the retail prices at local pumps.

The BUDI MADANI Targeted Subsidy Explained

The government's BUDI MADANI targeted subsidy program remains in effect to assist eligible citizens. Under this initiative, qualified individuals can purchase RON95 petrol at the subsidised rate of RM1.99 per litre (BUDI95) and diesel at RM2.10 per litre (BUDI Diesel). It is important to note that the BUDI95 subsidy has a temporary monthly quota of 200 litres. This subsidy is intended for eligible private vehicle owners and does not apply to commercial or rental vehicles.
